About us

About Us

“Ukrainian Textile Recycling Association” is a public association whose founders and members are legal entities and individuals under private law.

The association is a non-profit organization operating on the principles of voluntarism, self-governance, freedom to choose its area of operation, equality before the law, transparency, and openness.

We collaborate with government agencies, local authorities, businesses of various ownership structures, as well as partner organizations in Ukraine and abroad.

Our Mission

Purpose of the organization

Promoting the development of the sector for the collection, reuse, sorting, processing, and recycling of textile materials and waste, footwear, and haberdashery, as well as reusable goods and waste from such items

Protection of interests

Protecting the economic, legal, and professional interests of the Association’s members in their dealings with government authorities.

Environmental Protection

Promoting environmental protection and the development of a circular economy in Ukraine.

Sustainable development

Raising public environmental awareness and participating in the development of national waste management policies.

What We Do

Legal Framework

Participation in the drafting and promotion of legislation governing the management of textile waste, and the provision of independent expert reviews of such legislation.

Business support

Promoting a favourable environment for economic activity in the textile processing sector, and introducing tax incentives and concessions for businesses.

Sorting standards

The development and dissemination of standards and guidelines for the sorting of textiles, footwear and haberdashery for further processing or reuse.

Collection network

Establishment of a national network of collection points for used textiles, footwear, haberdashery, furniture, household appliances and sports equipment.

Municipal integration

Cooperation with local authorities on integrating the separate collection of textiles into municipal waste management systems.

Science and research

Support for R&D in the mechanical, chemical and thermal processing of textile fibres; independent research into textile waste.

Enlightenment

Organising information and awareness-raising campaigns for the public on the separate collection and sorting of textiles, and the possibilities for their reuse.

Attracting investment

Attracting investment to modernise the production facilities of recycling companies and the infrastructure for collecting reusable goods.

Conferences and exhibitions

Organising industry forums, conferences and exhibitions in the field of sustainable fashion and the circular economy.

Eco-design

Training manufacturers, designers and entrepreneurs in the principles of eco-design — creating products that can be repaired, reused or recycled.

Manufacturer's liability

Promoting the implementation of the principle of extended producer responsibility in accordance with EU legislation and international standards.

International cooperation

Representing the interests of the Ukrainian sector on the international stage, and cooperating with EU organisations and industry associations.

Grant schemes

Participation in national and international grant programmes, environmental funds and technical assistance projects aimed at developing the sector.

Legal protection for members

Protecting the economic, legal and professional interests of the Association’s members in their dealings with central and local government bodies.

Other areas

We are open to new initiatives and partnerships in any other areas of activity that contribute to the Association’s objectives and do not contravene Ukrainian law.

Membership

The members of the Association are its founders, as well as those who joined the Association after its state registration.

Membership of the Association is open to private legal entities, Ukrainian citizens, foreign nationals and stateless persons lawfully residing in Ukraine, who are aged 18 or over, who accept the Association’s Articles of Association, and who support activities aimed at achieving the Association’s objectives and areas of activity.

The Association has two categories of membership: full and associate.

Full members of the Association may be private-law legal entities and sole traders engaged in the processing of textiles and textile waste, and the collection, sorting, cleaning and processing of footwear, haberdashery, and second-hand goods, in particular furniture, household appliances, kitchenware, tools, printed materials, sports equipment, environmentally sound waste management, and the processing of other types of waste, including those engaged in international cooperation in the aforementioned fields.
